gears_gradients Thirty-six ridges, one printmaker's trick. Each ridge is secretly two paths. The visible stroke is an open polyline. Underneath it sits the same curve closed down to the bottom edge and filled with the background color — opaque. Draw everything back to front and each ridge silently eclipses the ones behind it: the painter's algorithm, occlusion built from nothing but draw order. No masks, no 3D. The terrain is three sines summed at incommensurate frequencies so the profile never visibly repeats, shaped by two Gaussian envelopes — one across x, one across the rows — that pull all the energy into a single massif. Every stroke shares one horizontal gradient, indigo through cyan into violet, so color follows the light, not the line. Depth is cheap when occlusion is free.
